How to send a large video without WhatsApp

WhatsApp, Messenger and most chat apps compress videos and cap the file size, so a sharp 4K clip arrives blurry or not at all. OmniBeam sends the original file, at full quality and with no size limit, straight from one device to the other.

Send it in four steps

  1. Open omnibeam.site on both devices: the phone with the video and the phone or computer that should get it.
  2. On the same Wi‑Fi they show up by themselves. On different networks, tap the pair button on one device and type the 6‑digit code on the other.
  3. Tap the other device, choose Photo Library or Choose Files and pick the video.
  4. Accept on the other device and tap Save. The video is byte for byte the same as the original.

The other person isn't online?

Use Share by link in the ⋯ menu. The video is encrypted in your browser, uploaded, and you get a link and a QR code to send in any chat. See sending a large file with a link.

Tips for big videos

Because the video goes straight from one device to the other, there is no re-encoding on a server. The receiver gets exactly the file you recorded, with the same resolution, frame rate and sound.

OmniBeam sends a large video without WhatsApp compression, so it arrives exactly as it was recorded.

Questions and answers

Why does WhatsApp make my videos look worse?

WhatsApp compresses videos to make them smaller and faster to send, which lowers the resolution and bitrate. Long or 4K videos are hit the hardest, and some are too large to send at all.

Can I send a 4K video?

Yes. OmniBeam sends the original file with no compression, so a 4K video arrives in 4K. Direct transfers have no size limit.

What if the other person is not online?

Share the video by link instead. It is encrypted on your device, and the other person downloads the original file when they are ready.

How long will it take?

On the same Wi‑Fi, a large video usually takes seconds to a few minutes. Keep both screens on until it finishes.

Does the other person need to install something?

No. They open omnibeam.site in their browser, or the link you send them, and the video downloads in its original quality.

Can I send the video to several people?

Yes. Send it to every open device at once with “Send to everyone”, or share one link with the whole group.

Will the video play on any phone?

The file is exactly the one your camera recorded, so it plays wherever that format is supported. Most phones and computers play MP4 and MOV videos without extra apps.
