Send a file with a link, encrypted

When the other person isn't online at the same moment, or you don't want to pair devices, share the files by link. They are encrypted on your device before they leave it.

Steps

  1. Open omnibeam.site, then tap Share files by link in the ⋯ menu at the top.
  2. Choose how long the link should work (1 hour, 1 day or 3 days) and, if you like, “Delete after the first download”.
  3. Choose the files. They are encrypted and uploaded, and you get a link and a QR code.
  4. Send the link by WhatsApp, email or any app. Whoever opens it can download the files on any device.

How private is it?

The files and their names are encrypted in your browser with a random key. The key is the part of the link after “#”, which browsers never send to a server, so OmniBeam stores only data it can't read. Treat the link like the file itself: anyone who has it can download.
